In order to successfully install and run Xilinx ISE WebPack, you will
need to meet at least the following requirements:

on the System icon…) |
|
|
Please note that Xilinx ISE WebPack only runs under
Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2, Windows XP Home or Windows XP

supported. |

C: drive by opening the Windows Explorer

Windows XP Home, simply log in. |
2. |
Run the Xilinx ISE WebPack setup.exe program in the xilinx/ise-webpack/win32 directory on this

The setup program will display a window with the licence agreement. Read and agree with the
licence (ie, select the “I accept the terms of this software
license” checkbox), then click Next. |
4. |
You now need to select a destination directory and program folder.
The destination directory should be set to C:\Xilinx; do not
change this! (It is tempting to install the program in C:\Program Files\Xilinx, where it should be, but this
will not work: the Xilinx programmers have yet to figure out how
to handle spaces within filenames!) Click Next. |
5. |
The setup program will ask you whether it should set the
XILINX and PATH variables. Make sure both
options are selected, then click Next. |
6. |
A summary will now be shown. Click Install to proceed with the
installation. |
7. |
After the program is copied into the correct locations, you will
be asked to install the Java Runtime Environment. Click Next to
proceed. |
8. |
The licence agreement for the Java Runtime Environment will be
shown. Read through this agreement, then click Yes. |
9. |
You will be asked for the destination directory: leave this to the
default. Click Next. |
10. |
You will now be asked which browsers should make use of the Java
Runtime Environment. Make sure that at least Internet Explorer is
selected. Click Next. The Java Runtime Environment will now be
installed. |
11. |
Once the Java Runtime Environment has installed, a window will
appear, informing you that setup is complete (and that you can visit
Xilinx’s Web site to see what is new). Click Close. Another dialog
box will appear, that “Install has completed”. Click OK. |
12. |
If the setup program asks you to reboot your computer, allow it to
do so. |
13. |
Once Microsoft Windows has restarted, log back in. If you are
running Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional, log in as
Administrator. If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home, simply log
in. |
14. |
You now need to install Service Pack 2 for Xilinx ISE
WebPack: run the ise-webpack-5.2.02i-pc.exe program in the xilinx/ise-webpack directory on this CD-ROM. |
15. |
The Service Pack 2 setup program will ask you for the
destination directory. Make sure that this is C:\Xilinx, as
before. Remove the tick-mark from “Create backup before
installing update”. Click Next. |
16. |
A summary will be shown. Click Install to proceed with the
installation of Service Pack 2. |
17. |
If the setup program asks whether it should overwrite any files,
click Yes. |
18. |
Once the setup program finishes, click Close, then OK, to get rid
of any spurious dialog boxes that are displayed. |
19. |

do so. |

Panel, then View » Classic View, then click on Add/Remove
Programs. |
3. |
Select the Xilinx ISE 5 program in the list of installed
programs, then click Change/Remove. Follow the prompts; if you are asked
to remove any shared files, click Yes. |
4. |
Once Xilinx ISE WebPack has finished uninstalling, repeat this
procedure (step 3) for Java 2 Runtime Environment and for Java
Web Start. |
5. |
You may need to manually delete the C:\Xilinx directory and the icons in the Start menu and

you. |
